The buildingSMART “BIM and Asset Management” Seminar Series that took place throughout August certainly did not disappoint. Held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, the events were well attended by industry leaders and representatives with a keen interest in BIM and, in particular, its implementation at the Pyrmont Bridge.
BuildingSMART Australasia, the industry-led international body for the building and construction industry, teamed up with Zuuse to bring a series of seminars entitled: BIM & Asset Management to Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney throughout August.
Featuring Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s senior facilities supervisor, Wayne Sahlman, the events were focused on the value of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for asset management and included a presentation on the recent implementation of Zuuse 3D BIM technology for an iconic Sydney landmark: The Pyrmont Bridge.
With BIM fast becoming the holy grail in facilities management and as asset owners are under increasing pressure to maximise their facility budgets and prolong the life of their assets, BuildingSMART recognised that the industry is in need of greater transparency and knowledge sharing of successful cases of BIM implementation.
“BuildingSMART Australasia recognises that promoting real world implementation is critical for the industry. Sharing key learnings amongst peers, whether it’s private or public sector, will help drive the uptake of BIM in this country,” said Chair of BuildingSMART Australasia, John Mitchell.
